What The Festival Is All About

If you’re in for some outdoor adventure, then set your sights on one of Lake District’s top festivals! The Keswick Mountain Festival is a celebration of outdoor sports held in the stunning Lake District. It mainly features organised walks, triathlon, climbing, navigational skills and water sports. Plus, there will be a size-able MTB presence!

Who Will Be There

This year will see the gathering of inspirational characters from the outdoor world such as Sir Ranulph Fiennes and BASE Jumper, climber and local lad Leo Houlding in the Theatre By the Lake. This coming May 12-23, the Lake District will play host to numerous outdoor-activity enthusiasts from all over the globe. In attendance also, are some mountain heroes including  Andy Kirkpatrick, Doug Scott CBE, Joss Naylor, Kenny Stuart, Dave Birkett and Andy Cave.

What To Look Forward To

On the Derwentwater shore, beneath the awe-inspiring summits of Catbells and Skiddaw, will be the Adventure Base of this whole activity. The festival will feature new themed areas: BIKE, HIKE, CLIMB, KIDS, PADDLE and TRIATHLON. This will be one great place to pick up handy tips from experts and know the latest outdoor gears from some of the very best outdoor brands. Also, here is the best place and time to try out some new activities!

If you really want to push yourself for more daring activities, then the open water swim can be a great experience. Also, there is the launch of three new sportive, forest trails and fell racing. Or try the three-hour Epic Trailquest event. It is a mountain bike orienteering event that will test your navigation as well as biking skills. There is no worries since those taking part can pick the route they will ride to suit their abilities.

The festival’s main climbing event will be a DMM-sponsored Dry Tooling competition, which will take place on a Thursday between 6pm-10pm. Climbers from all aptitudes are all invited to climb a freestanding wall using ice-climbing equipments such as ice tools and crampons.

There are abseiling, climbing and scrambling courses that is provided by the Shearwater Adventure Training. Adventurers can descend a natural water park where they can have jumps, slides and dives into plunge pools. The Keswick Mountain Festival is definitely an adrenaline-packed activity suitable for 8 years and above!
